STRA NEWSLETTER –NOVEMBER 2009

The 2009 finals are now history.  Our 2009 finals were just what we expected--a successful
15th year celebration.  Our thanks to all of you that came and participated in the fellowship,
roping, and fun.  Everyone left winners in one way or the other.  Congratulations!
The awards dinner was another highlight of the event.  The Grand Door Prize, a saddle,
was actually won by Gene Hapeman of Jacksboro.  Gene gave the saddle to Leo Brannen, Who
was recognized as a special member.  92 and still roping.
Our motto-WE MAY GIVE OUT BUT NEVER GIVE UP.  15 YEARS HAS PASSED AND WE ARE NOT
DONE YET.
The 2010 season kicks off with the first roping in Abilene at the Expo center on December
5, 2009.  Ned and Jim will be out for Jim's daughters wedding.  Shorty Martin will put the roping
on for us.  BO11AM and ROPE at 12NOON.  Our roping format will change this year.  At the district
roping we will have a #8 capped at a #4, a #10 with no cap, and a #12 if enough ropers with
higher numbers want to participate.  The 2010 finals will include these ropings along with some
other ropings in line with past seasons.  Namely the Low Numbered Drawpot, Women's and the
mixed.  We will have a Super Senior as well.  The points for the year end awards will not include
the finals.  Ropers classed 1 through 8 will be recognized in in each category for high points.
Special recognition will be given for the high point roper of the combined number 1 through 4
and for the combined 5 and up ropers.  You must rope in district roping to qualify for the finals.

Jim sort of started a rumor that he would lower the men's age to 40, but it was on a rumor
The minimum age will still be 45 for the men and 40 for the women.
New producers are signed up for 2010.  Danny Altman for Mineral Wells, Randy Mulkey for the
Levelland/Lubbock area and Leon Hull for Bruner, Missouri.  If you know someone in your area that
would like to put the STRA roping on have them give Ned or Jim a call.

May God's Blessings be with you.  Happy Holidays.
Wanda, Jean, Ned and Jim
